Men’s Swimming and Diving Moves into Second Place After Day Two of the #CAAChamps

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – The Drexel men's swimming and diving team moved into second place after night two of four at the 2017 CAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Christiansburg, Va. on Thursday evening. Freshman Jason Arthur won gold, setting a multitude of records while Drexel diving grabbed silver and bronze in the 1-meter.
Arthur grabbed gold in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:45.92 for a new Drexel record, CAA all-time mark and CAA Championships meet benchmark. The time was almost four seconds faster than the previous Drexel standard which also belonged to Arthur at 1:49.78. The conference meet and all-time time was previously held by William & Mary's Jeremiah O'Donnell in 2015 at 1:46.38.
Drexel divers, freshman Anthony Musciano and sophomore Michael Binkauskas, finished in second and third of the men's 1-meter board for silver and bronze on Thursday. Musciano finished with a final score of 295.75 while Binkauskas came in at 260.20.
Sophomore Patrick Cobb set a new school record in the 500-yard freestyle during the prelims at 4:27.93 to come into the finals as the top seed where he placed fourth with a time of 4:28.69. Sophomore Dane Bell won the 'B' final of the 500 free with a time of 4:31.06.
Senior Ivo Pejovic place seventh in the 50-yard freestyle finals as he touched the wall at 20.51.
To close out the evening, the men placed second for silver in the 200-yard freestyle relay behind freshman Stathis Malamas, Arthur, freshman David Kneiss and Pejovic with a time of 1:21.41, less than a quarter of a second off the Drexel record.

The four-day meet continues tomorrow morning with Friday prelims. On Friday and Saturday, prelims will take place at 10 a.m. followed by finals at 6 p.m.

Thursday – 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free, Men's 1-meter, 200 free relay
Friday – 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, Women's 1-meter, 400 medley relay
Saturday – 1650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, Men's 3-meter, 400 free relay
