CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – The Drexel men's and women's swimming and diving teams will head to Christiansburg, Va. for the 2017 CAA Swimming and Diving Championships, a four-day meet starting on Wednesday, Feb. 22 and concluding on Saturday, Feb. 25.
Action begins on Wednesday with the 200 medley relay, 800 free relay and the women's 3-meter dive at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center in Christiansburg, Va.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Two relays will be contested by the men and women at 4 p.m. on Wednesday with prelims at noon for the women's 3-meter. Thursday, Friday and Saturday will see prelims and consolations occur before the finals in a similar format. For the final three days, swimming prelims start at 10 a.m. followed by the finals at 6 p.m. Diving prelims are at 1 p.m. each day.
Wednesday – 200 medley relay, Women's 3-meter, 800 free relay
Thursday – 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free, Men's 1-meter, 200 free relay
Friday – 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, Women's 1-meter, 400 medley relay
Saturday – 1650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, Men's 3-meter, 400 free relay
LAST YEAR AT THE 2016 CAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
The men set 26 all-time top five swims at the 2016 CAA Men's Championships. The squad had 12 record-breaking swims, broke 10 school benchmarks, three freshman times and one conference record. Overall, the men placed second at the championships for the best finish since joining the CAA in 2001-02.
The Drexel women put 31 new times in the all-time top-five at the 2016 conference championships while breaking nine school records and four freshman benchmarks with a total of 13 record-breaking swims. Rachel Bernhardt, then a junior, won the first two gold medals for swimming events in the women's program at the CAAs as she went on to become the Drexel swimmer to compete at the NCAA Championships later that spring.
BIG JANUARY IN 2017
Combined in the month of January, Drexel went 10-1 with the men at 5-0 and the women at 5-1. The women's lone loss this month came at Lehigh in a close meet. Overall the Drexel men own an 8-1 mark while the women are 8-2 on the campaign.
WEEKLY CAA AWARDS
The Dragons have won 18 CAA weekly awards in 2016-17. Drexel swept all four awards (men's swimmer, men's diver, women's swimmer and women's diver) on both Tuesday, Jan. 10 and Tuesday, Jan. 31.
