Men’s Swimming Takes Silver in 800 Free Relay on Day One of #CAAChamps

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – On night one of four at the 2017 CAA Swimming and Diving Championships, the Drexel men grabbed silver in the 800-yard freestyle relay to close out Thursday evening. The men currently sit in third place of the five-team meet.
The men competed in two relay events on Wednesday to open the conference championships.
Freshman Stathis Malamas, sophomore Patrick Cobb, sophomore Luke Hanner and senior Ivo Pejovic took silver in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 6:32.72. Malamas' leadoff time in the relay was just 0.39 seconds off the Drexel record in the 200-yard freestyle.
The men also placed fourth in the 200-yard medley relay behind freshman Jason Arthur, sophomore Ralph Cannarozzi III, junior JT Lumpkin and senior Sean Swartz at 1:29.83.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
The four-day meet continues tomorrow morning with Thursday prelims. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, prelims will take place at 10 a.m. followed by finals at 6 p.m.
Wednesday – 200 medley relay, Women's 3-meter, 800 free relay
Thursday – 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free, Men's 1-meter, 200 free relay
Friday – 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, Women's 1-meter, 400 medley relay
Saturday – 1650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, Men's 3-meter, 400 free relay
