Mason Scores Late to Help Dragons Down Quakers

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Taylor Mason found the back of the cage late in the 4th quarter, to advance the Dragons in a 2-1 victory over Penn on Sunday afternoon at Buckley Field. The Dragons have now won four of their last five games and are 4-3 on the season.  
   
BY THE NUMBERS  
- Megan Hadfield led the Dragons defense with six saves in the contest.
- Drexel earned seven corners in the contest with two of them being goals, which were scored by Bri O'Donnell and Mason.
- Stephanie Oleykowski had the only assist of the game, on the eventual go-ahead goal from Mason.
- Drexel defeated Penn for the first time since the 2010 season. The Quakers had won the last six meetings.
  
HOW IT HAPPENED  
- O'Donnell capitalized on an opportunity off a penalty corner in the 34th minute, putting DU ahead 1-0.
- Mason scored on a penalty corner to break a 1-1 tie in the 4th quarter. It was her second goal of the season and gave the Dragons a 2-1 lead.
- Hadfield and the DU defense held Penn scoreless in the fourth quarter as the Dragons defeated their University City rival.
UP NEXT  
Drexel returns to the field on Friday, September 23 against Rider. Game time from Philadelphia is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at Buckley Field.
