Golf To Play at Firestone Invitational Beginning Monday

Akron, Ohio - The Drexel golf team, coming off a victory last week at the Dartmouth Invitational, will play in the prestigious Firestone Invitational. The teams will play 36 holes on Monday at the Firestone Country Club. On Tuesday, the teams will play the final 18 holes.
The tournament will be played on Firestone's North Course. The Robert Trent Jones designed course has served as host to both the American Golf Classic and the World Series of Golf. Golf & Travel magazine once listed the North Course among the top 100 best modern courses.
Drexel will play against a very competitive field over the two-day tournament. Akron, Bowling Green, Dartmouth, Dayton, Eastern Michigan, IUPUI, Old Dominion, Ohio, Santa Clara, South Carolina Aiken, Temple, William & Mary, Winthrop and Youngstown State will be Drexel's competition this week. The host Zips won the event last year, shooting seven under par.
Representing Drexel this week in Akron will be Alex Butler, Stephen Cerbara, Jeffrey Cunningham, Angelo Giantsopoulos and Connor Schmidt. Butler finished second overall last week at the Dartmouth Invitational. The senior shot a blistering seven-under par 64 in the opening round, which was his best round since arriving at Drexel.
