Powells Point, N.C. - The Drexel golf team will travel south to play in the Old Dominion/OBX Intercollegiate this weekend. The teams will have a practice round on Saturday at Kilmaric Golf Course before playing 18 holes on three straight days for the championship.
Kilmaric is no stranger to the Dragons. The par-72, 6,550-yard course is a regular host of the even and the Dragons are regular participants. Drexel's best finish at the event was eighth place back in 2015. This tournament regularly draws some of the top teams in different leagues throughout the country. This year, the Dragons will be competing against Akron, Campbell, Delaware, Drake, George Mason, Georgetown, Hartford, Longwood, Manhattan, Nebraska-Omaha, North Dakota State, Old Dominion, Saint Francis, Saint Joseph's, Towson, UNCW and Winthrop.
Drexel Head Coach Ben Feld will bring Alex Butler, Stephen Cerbara, Jeffrey Cunningham, Angelo Giantsopoulos and Connor Schmidt with him to Powells Point. This will be the second to last event of the fall for the Dragons. They close the fall by playing in the City 6 Championships on Nov. 10 at Galloway National Golf Club. Drexel is the defending champion.
