Women's Rowing Earns a Pair of Top-5 Finishes Sunday at Eastern Sprints

FINAL RESULTS
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Drexel women's rowing team advanced three boats to grand finals and earned two top-five finishes Sunday at the EARC Women's Sprints on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.
Drexel's third varsity eight finished third in the grand final for the team's best finish of the day, followed by the varsity four's fourth-place time. The second varsity eight earned a spot in the grand final and finished sixth overall. The Dragons' top eight finished second in the petite final to finish eighth overall in the category.
Racing in the Maria Papadakis boat, the third varsity eight took third with a time of 7:33.144, which was behind only Northeastern's 7:29.977 and Harvard/Radcliffe's 7:15.501. The varsity four, racing in the new Diane Corle shell, raced to an 8:00.917. Columbia won with a 7:40.643 and Harvard/Radcliffe and Northeastern filled out the top three. The second varsity eight, which raced in the Marlene Buckley II boat, finished sixth in the grand final with a time of 7:19.018. Harvard/Radcliffe won with the only sub-seven time of 6:49.595. The varsity eight, racing in the Cara Fry boat, took second in the petite final with a time of 7:06.68, fending off Rutgers by less than three-tenths of a second and finishing four seconds off Boston College's pace.
The Dragons will return to action May 12-13 when they race for their fifth consecutive Dad Vail Regatta overall title on the Schuylkill River.
