Women's Rowing Takes Two Saturday from Princeton, Temple and Duquesne

PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Drexel women's rowing team took two wins Saturday against Princeton lightweight, Duquesne and Temple on Lake Carnegie. Racing had originally been scheduled for the Schuylkill River, but was moved due to the poor racing conditions following Friday's storms.

The Dragons got victories from the third varsity eight in the Maria Papadakis boat with a time of 7:54.37 and the varsity four in the Sandra Lee Sheller, which crossed the finish line with a time of 8:13.33, on the day. The varsity eight, racing in the Cara Fry boat, finished second, with a time of 7:21.94, ahead of Duquesne (7:29.43) and Temple (7:31.19) and behind Princeton 7:20.07). Drexel's second varsity eight, which raced in the Marlene Buckley II boat, popped an oarlock at the 1,250-meter mark of the race.

Following this weekend's racing, the Dragons will head to our nation's capital on April 7-8 for the George Washington Invitational hosted on the Potomac River.
