Women's Crew Records Five Victories in Competition Against Bucknell, Duquesne and Williams

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel women's crew team returned to competition on Saturday April 5 against Bucknell University, Duquesne University, and Williams College on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, Pa.
The Dragons began competition in the women's novice eight "A" race with the freshman eight "A" getting edged by Williams by less than one second (7:21.74) in the Marlene Buckley boat in lane 1 and the freshman eight "B" in the John Daskalakis boat in lane 3 finishing third with a time of 7:44.34. The freshman eight "A" got their revenge in the afternoon against Bucknell, beating the Bison with a time of 7:03.10. The freshman eight "B" also raced in the afternoon in lane 2 against Bucknell where they fell with a time of 8:03.47
Drexel's varsity four took to the water in the Sandra Lee Sheller boat in lane two against Duquesne and Williams where they took home the win with a final time of 7:33.50. The varsity four recorded another in the afternoon in lane 2 against Bucknell, winning by more than eight seconds with a time of 7:39.68.
The second varsity eight won their morning race with a time of 7:02.54 in the Maria Papadakis boat in lane 3 against Williams and Duquesne before falling to Bucknell in lane 2 in the afternoon with a time of 7:08.45.
The varsity eight ended the morning races in the Marlene Buckley II boat in lane 1 against Williams and Duquesne, finishing 4.20 behind Duquesne. In the afternoon, they beat Bucknell from lane 2 with a time of 6:49.20.
Drexel women's crew will return to the water on Saturday April 12 when they head to Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J for the Knecht Cup Regatta.
