PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel softball team was defeated by the Seton Hall Pirates, 11-6, on Tuesday afternoon at the Drexel Softball Field.

Madison Taylor began the game in the circle and went four innings. The junior struck out two batters as well. Sidney Toukonen entered the game in relief and pitched three innings, only allowing one earned run.

Devyn Demchak hit a pair of doubles in three at bats and drove in three RBIs. Mia Garza finished the game with a 1-for-2 performance at the plate, drawing two walks, scoring two RBIs and scoring one run. Garza hit a solo home run in the fifth inning.

Drexel opened the game with a Demchak double down the left field line to take a 1-0 lead in the first inning. In the second inning, Seton Hall hit a two-run home run to take the lead, 2-1.

In the bottom of the second, Drexel scored four runs. Alamillo reached on a fielding error and scored Lily Meuninck. With the bases loaded, Garza drew a walk to score Macie Bergmann. Demchak then scored two runs on a double down the right field line to push Drexel's total to five.

Seton Hall scored seven runs between the third and fifth innings to take a four-run lead over the Dragons.

Garza cracked the fifth home run of her season in the fifth to pull the home team back to within three. However, Seton Hall scored a pair of runs in the sixth and seventh inning to defeat Drexel, 11-6.

Drexel travels to Buies Creek, N.C. on Friday to play a three-game series against the Campbell Camels. The first game of the series, on Friday is set for 5 p.m.
