PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel softball team was topped by the Hofstra Pride in the series and regular season finale on Sunday, 5-2.
Lindsay Nelson (3-22) started the game and went five innings, only allowing one earned run and fanning five batters. Jessica Schable entered the game in the sixth and pitched two innings, holding Hofstra to just four hits and one run.
Mia Garza finished the season with a 2-for-3 game, driving in both of Drexel's runs in the first inning. The sophomore hit a laser to right field that knocked off the top of the wall. Scoring on the play was Lily Meuninck and Ashley Errico.
Hofstra scored a pair of runs in the second and third inning. But in the fifth inning, the visiting team scored two runs. The Pride added an insurance run in the seventh inning to push the score to 5-2.
The Dragons' 2023 season has come to an end on Saturday. The team was led by Ameryn Humble who had a batting average of .284 through 36 games, while Izzy Alamillo hit .273 across 45 games.
