Dragons Fall Short of Delaware 4-3 in Regular-Season Finale

Newark, Del. - Sonja Stosic, Zeynep Mafa and Elise Leizerovich won in singles play for the Dragons, but it was not enough to lift Drexel in a 4-3 loss to Delaware (11-4, 5-1) in the final dual match of the 2010-11 regular season. The Dragons finish 8-7 overall and 2-2 in CAA matches in regular-season play.

Elise Leizerovich battled Olivia Heim into a first set tie-breaker at fifth singles and trailed 6-5 in the break, before Heim fell victim to a twisted ankle and had to retire. Stosic won in straight sets 6-4, 6-0 against rookie Dorothy Safron at second singles. Mafa put away Samantha Carnall 6-4, 6-2 at third singles for the Dragons' third team point.

The Dragons will await their seeding in the CAA Tournament which will be held in Norfolk, Va. next week.
