Junior Varsity Eight and Varsity Four Post Wins in Spring Season Opener

Philadelphia - Drexel men's crew opened its spring season with a meeting on the Schuylkill River against La Salle and Lehigh. The Drexel varsity eight raced head-to-head with Lehigh and finished 2.2 seconds behind the Mountain Hawks while the Dragons' junior varsity eight cruised to a victory over Lehigh by more than 11 seconds. Drexel varsity four boat defeated La Salle to place first.
Lehigh's varsity eight crossed the line at 6:21.9 while the Dragons were just behind at 6:24.1. The Dragons' junior varsity posted a time of 6:39.0 while the Mountain Hawks' entry were clocked at 6:50.9. In the three-boat novice eight race, La Salle took top honors with a time of 6:26.1 with the Dragons taking second just 0.7 seconds behind. Lehigh's novice boat crossed at 6:46.0. La Salle and Drexel also each entered a pair for a head-to-head race as the Explorers' boat crossed ahead of the Dragons' entry.
Drexel will back in action on March 28 for the Murphy Cup Regatta on the Schuylkill RIver.
