Sammy Widnick Named CAA Defensive Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. — Sammy Widnick of the Drexel women's soccer team has been named CAA Defensive Player of the Week. This is the sophomore's first CAA weekly honor of her career.

The Harrisburg, Pa., native posted a pair of shutouts between the posts last week against Saint Joseph's and Lafayette, the first clean sheets of her career. Widnick collected four saves against the Leopard as the Dragons' defense held both their opponents to just ten shots. The sophomore goalkeeper is now in a three-way tie for first in the conference in shutouts with two.

The Dragons return to action this Thursday to battle University City rival Penn at 6 p.m.
