Drue Nicholas Named to All-Tournament Team

ST. HELENA ISLAND, S.C. - The Drexel golf team ended the 2021-22 season with a third place finish at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships. The tournament was held at the Cotton Dike Course at Dataw Island. The Dragons finished in the top three for the second straight season for the first time since joining the league. Drue Nicholas had an outstanding tournament and was named to the CAA's All-Tournament Team.
Nicholas tied for fourth overall four-under par. On Tuesday, the sophomore finished the day at 71 (-1) as he shot under par in each of the three rounds at the Cotton Dike Course at Dataw Island. Angelo Giantsopoulos closed his career at Drexel in fine fashion. The senior had a team-best three-under-par 69 on Tuesday, his second straight round of 69. Giantsopoulos tied for seventh overall. He had five birdies in his final round and 12 for the tournament, tying him with Nicholas for the most on the team. Jeffrey Cunningham, making his final appearance as a Dragon, shot a 73. Cunningham closed the tournament at seven-over par. Griffin Mitchell, playing in his first CAA Championship, was at six-over par over the three days and finished tied for 23rd. Tafadzwa Nyamukondiwa, also competing in the CAA's for the first time, was tied for 26th overall with Cunningham.
Charleston won the tournament for the sixth time with a tournament-record 27-under par. The Cougars finished 19 shots better than UNCW. Drexel was third at 862, six strokes ahead of fourth-place Elon and 16 strokes better than Delaware.
 
Joining Nicholas on the CAA's All-Tournament team were Kieron van Wyk, Nevil Ritter and Zach Reuland of Charleston and Walker Isley of UNCW.
