Drexel Advances to CAA Finals With Win Over Monmouth

NEWARK, Del. – The Dragons scored two goals in the third quarter as they upended Monmouth in the Colonial Athletic Association semifinals at Delaware on Friday afternoon. DU is in the finals for the first time since its CAA Championship in 2012. Drexel will face the winner of the semifinal matchup between Northeastern and Delaware.

BY THE NUMBERS
- Isabel Jacobs, Stephanie Oleykowski, and Avery Powell each scored for DU.
- Drexel forced 11 corners against the Hawks.
- Hadfield led the Dragons defensive effort with three saves in the contest.
- Jacobs and Taylor Mason each had two assists.
- Drexel's offense started strong with eight shots in the first half, but went into halftime down 1-0.
- 23 seconds into the third quarter, Powell found the back of the cage for her sixth goal of the season off a penalty corner with help from Jacobs and Mason to tie the game.
- In the 44th minute, Oleykowski scored off a deflection to give Drexel a 2-1 lead going into the final period.
- At the start of the fourth quarter, DU forced a penalty corner and Tina Rawa sent a ball into the circle as Jacobs deflected it for her third goal of the season to take a 3-1 lead.
- Drexel's defense kept Monmouth scoreless the rest of the contest.
