Drexel Defeats Lafayette for the First Time Since 2015

PHILADELPHIA – Amber Brouwer and Avery Powell found the back of the cage, igniting Drexel to a 2-1 victory against Lafayette on Friday afternoon at Buckley Field. At 7-5, DU looks to build upon the victory as they play the first of five consecutive games against CAA opponents starting on Sunday.

Dragons travel south to CAA opponent, No. 20 William & Mary on Sunday, October 9 to play the Tribe. Game time from Williamsburg is scheduled for Noon.
BY THE NUMBERS
- The Dragons had not won against the Leopards since 2015.
- Isabel Jacobs, Tina Rawa and Stephanie Oleykowski earned defensive saves to lead Drexel's back line.
- Eline Di Leva and Cailey Lever each had an assist in the contest.
- With under two minutes until halftime, Lever sent a shot from the right side of the circle to Brouwer as she scored the first goal of the game and gave Drexel a 1-0 lead.
- In the 32nd minute, Di Leva found Powell on the doorstep of the cage as she sent a shot past Lafayette's goalie to put DU up 2-0.
- Lafayette answered back as they scored late in the fourth quarter on a penalty corner to make the score 2-1.
- Drexel's defense held firm and denied the Leopards the chance to tie the game.
