Hofstra Defeats Women's Tennis, 5-2

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - The Drexel women's team visited Colonial Athletic Association rival Hofstra on Saturday and came up on the short end of a 5-2 decision against the Pride.
The Dragons began the match with a loss in the No.1 position doubles, as Zeynep Mafa and Marcela Rosales were defeated, 8-1. Then, Nicole Pivonka and Emma Brooke fought to a tough, 8-9 loss against Hofstra's Sonya Tsay and Louise Lopez. Finally, the only win for the Dragons came from teammates Alex Bell and Aysenil Orhon, as they battled to an, 8-3, win.
In singles play, two Dragons took home wins in straight sets against Hofstra. No. 1 Zeynep Mafa kicked off the day winning her match, 6-2, 6-1. Drexel would then lose the next three matches, but come back to rally, when Alex Bell took down her opponent, 7-5, 6-1.
