Towson Edges No. 7 Men's Lacrosse, 8-7

Towson took over first place in the CAA with an 8-7 win against Drexel at Johnny Unitas Stadium. Mark Manos came up with 14 saves in a losing cause for the No. 7 Dragons, who fell to 9-3 and 2-1 in the CAA. Towson is 3-0 in league play.
The Dragons took a two goal lead early in the fourth quarter when Andrew Collins tallied at the 11:46 mark. Towson got the score even at six with goals from Carl Iacona and Michael Brashears. Manos came up with a big stop late in the perod as the score remained tied going into the last frame.
Towson's Christian Pastirik set up Brock Armour on the crease as Towson took the lead for good at 7-6. It was one of five assists for Pastirik. Will Harrington gave the Tigers an insurance goal when he scored a minute later to make it 8-6. The Dragons cut the lead to one when Robert Church tallied from 15 yards out on a pass from Aaron Prosser. Drexel had trouble getting possession for the final minutes. Towson went into a stall mode beginning with 6:10 left in the contest and held it for the next 4:35 until the Dragons' Garrett McIntosh scooped a loose ball in front of Drexel's goal.
Drexel managed to get last possession when the Tigers were called for cross checking with nine seconds on the clock. Church fired a shot from 17 yards ou that was saved by Towson goalkeeper Travis Love as time expired.
Scott Perri and Colin Ambler each scored two points for the Dragons. No Drexel player scored more than a goal. Drexel has a pivotal CAA contest at Delaware next Saturday night. The Blue Hens defeated UMass on Saturday. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
