Voelker Named Finalist for US Lacrosse Hall of Fame

Philadelphia – Drexel University Men's Lacrosse Head Coach Brian Voelker has been selected as one of 24 finalists on the 2010 National Lacrosse Hall of Fame ballots. It is from these ballots that the respective National Lacrosse Hall of Fame voting committees will select the 2010 induction class. US Lacrosse will announce the inductees over Memorial Day weekend.
Voelker, who is in his first season as the Dragons' head coach, was a three-time All-American as a player at Johns Hopkins. He played in the North/South All-Star game as a senior and then played professionally for nine seasons in both the National Lacrosse League and for Major League Lacrosse. Voelker, a defenseman, played for the U.S. Men's National Lacrosse Team in both 1994 and 1998. He was also a member of the All-World Team in 1998 and was named the Most Outstanding Defenseman in the tournament. Earlier this year, the Baltimore native was inducted into the US Lacrosse Greater Baltimore Chapter Hall of Fame (2010).
The National Lacrosse Hall of Fame has annually inducted individuals based on outstanding lacrosse achievements and/or contributions since 1957.
Drexel is now 6-1 in Voelker's first season is ranked 11th in the nation in the latest USILA Poll. The Dragons are 14th in the Nike Media Poll.
