Box Score
Philadelphia - Drexel Field Hockey dominated its University City rival to post a 7-0 victory at Buckley Field. The Dragons outshot their visitors by a 38-4 margin and did not allow a penalty corner en route to their eighth victory to move to 11-3 overall. Susan Ciufo scored a pair of goals while Amanda Fleischut picked up a goal and two assists.
Ciufo wasted little time as she dribbled into the circle just over a minute into the game and blasted a shot from the right side that rattled the cage. A little more than 10 minutes later, Penn was whistled for an infraction and Fleischut quickly restarted the ball in the Dragons' half and sent the ball to a streaking Ciufo. The senior fired a shot that beat Penn goalie Danielle Rothman. Elizabeth Koch scored just four minutes later when she finished a loose ball in front. Just before halftime, Ashley Santee deflected a Kim Tunell rocket off of a penalty corner that eventually found the cage to give Drexel a 4-0 halftime lead.
It was more of the same in the second period despite liberal substitutions by Drexel Head Coach Denise Zelenak. Christina Mastropaolo redirected a pass from Fleischut near the left post for a score before Fleishut scored just over two minutes later. Mariel Marinelli scored her first goal of the season when she found the back of the cage from the left post.
Jenna Phillips made two saves before giving way to Brooke Underwood who saw her first career collegiate action. Underwood was unchallenged in over 22 minutes of play. Rothman stopped 16 shots for the Quakers.
Drexel returns to action on Tuesday when the Dragons travel to Lafayette.
