Kate Quinn's Career Day Lifts Dragons Past Towson, 12-9; Drexel Wins Eighth Straight

Cuocco Records 500th Career Save
PHILADELPHIA - Kate Quinn collected a career-high five goals as the Dragons (9-2, 4-0) took down Towson at Vidas Field, 9-2. With the win, Drexel earned their eighth straight win on Saturday. This is tied for the longest single-season streak in program history. Jenika Cuocco had seven saves, recording 500 for her career.
The Tigers opened the first with a 4-2 advantage. Milana Zizakovic got things started, scoring at the 11:50 mark. Bridget Finley evened things back at one less than a minute later. Kate Quinn's free position shot was saved, but Finley was there to put away the rebound. Towson collected a pair of goals to take a two score advantage. Both teams hit the back of the net in the final 30 seconds of the quarter, with Teagan Quinn getting a shot on goal.
Drexel caught fire in the second quarter. The Dragons tallied for six consecutive goals, keeping Towson scoreless. Kate Quinn added three scores for Drexel with Bea Buckley getting a pair. Cuocco recorded six of her seven saves in the first half. DU would hold on to the lead the rest of the way.
Luca DeMaio and Zizakovic each scored a goal in a 39 second span to bring the Tigers back to within two. Caroline Senich and Savannah Safchuck traded tallies to end the third quarter.
Kate Quinn began the final 15 minutes with another pair of scores. Marano raced around the net and fed the dish to Quinn in front of the cage. She then sprinted past the defender and blasted the shot on the right wing for another goal. Caroline Senich followed up with a free position score. Towson was able to tally twice in the final three minutes, but the Dragons held on for the 12-9 win.
Drexel returns to Vidas Field on April 13 as they take on Hofstra.
