Nicholas Fires Five-Under 66 in Final Round at The Peoples Championship

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. - Drue Nicholas fired a 5-under-par 66 in the final round on his way to medalist honors at The Peoples Championship at Sea Palms Resort. Drexel finished the 54-hole tournament in third place in the 20-team field hosted by UNC Greensboro.
Nicholas ended the tournament at 12-under par. The senior went five under in the first and third rounds as he picked up his fourth career win at Drexel. He has a victory in each of his four seasons at the school. On Sunday, Nicholas picked up an eagle on the par-4, 395-yard 10th hole and had four birdies. His only blemish came on a bogey on the 18th hole.
Griffin Mitchell shot even par 71 on Sunday. The senior fired par or better in all three rounds this weekend and left Georgia with a 2-under-par 211. Andrew Wallace had his best round of the tournament on Sunday, when he carded a 3-over-par 74. Kevin Lydon had a 75, while Caleb Taylor ended the day with a 76. Overall, Drexel finished 2-over on the day and in the tournament.
UNCG won the tournament going away. The Spartans were 16 strokes better than Davidson, last year's champion. Drexel was iin third ahead of Villanova, who placed fourth, and Richmond, who rounded out the top five.
Drexel will be back in action next week when it plays in the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate in Williamsburg, Va. That tournament begins on Monday, March 24.
