Mike Perretta Named Assistant Women's Basketball Coach

PHILADELPHIA – The Janet E. & Barry C. Burkholder Family Head Women's Basketball Coach Amy Mallon has announced the hiring of Mike Perretta as the an assistant coach.
As part of the women's basketball staff Perretta will have a focus on video and player development.
"I'm excited to welcome Mike to our Drexel Women's Basketball staff," Mallon said. "His passion for player development and commitment to helping our student-athletes reach their potential will be a great addition to our program. He brings a great energy, and his work ethic matches that of our culture. His experience at Hew Haven and within the Philadelphia Catholic League has prepared him well to make an immediate impact with our players."
Perretta finished his first season on the bench for a program in 2024-25, assisting the University of New Haven Women's Basketball team. Perretta helped lead New Haven to its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2014 and was responsible for putting together the program's first official NCAA Division I schedule.
Prior to his arrival in New Haven, Perretta was a media relations intern for Villanova, where he served as the primary media relations contact for field hockey, men's lacrosse and water polo.
Perretta earned his bachelor's degree in communication from Villanova in 2023. While achieving his bachelor's, Perretta assisted the Archbishop Carroll girl's basketball team, helping lead the Lions to the 2023 Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association 6A State Championship.
Perretta, the son of longtime Villanova head coach Harry Perretta, joins his brother Stephen on Mallon's staff. Stephen completed his first season with the Dragons last season.
