Dragon of the Week: Hamers and Kavounov

PHILADELPHIA – Fleur Hamers and Anastasia Kavounov named the Drexel Dragons of the Week, presented by Rothman Orthopaedics, for the week of October 7th–13th.
Fleur Hamers, a member of the field hockey team, continued her strong freshman campaign with a goal and two shootout conversions over the weekend. She scored in the third quarter against Monmouth to tie the game at 2-2, then converted twice in the penalty shootout to lift Drexel to a 3-2 win at No. 20 Saint Joseph's. The Enschede, Netherlands native now ranks among the team leaders with five goals on the season.
Anastasia Kavounov, a member of the women's tennis team, advanced to the Round of 16 in doubles and reached the singles main draw at the ITA Northeast Regionals, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania. The sophomore and her doubles partner Rebecca Fiedler earned wins over pairs from Penn State and Binghamton before falling to Columbia. In singles, Kavounov picked up three victories, including two in qualifying, to reach the main draw for the second straight year. The Ontario, Canada native continues to be one of Drexel's most consistent performers.
