Drexel Falls in National Duals Consolation Semifinals to Penn, 30-12

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - A pin by Luke Nichter over No. 20 Jude Swisher was not enough as the Dragons fell to University City rival Penn in the semifinals of the NWCA Mid-Major National Duals Saturday morning in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Drexel is now 2-2 in the tournament, with wins over No. 23 Cal Poly and 25 CSU Bakersfield. DU will battle for seventh place against Central Michigan at 2 p.m. Cody Walsh and Ibrahim Ameer were also victorious.
Nichter recorded a pin over the nationally ranked Swisher in the opening period at 157 pounds. After an early takedown by Swisher, the redshirt senior earned the reversal and went for the finish. Nichter quickly get the shoulders pinned for the six points.
Cody Walsh followed up with three points of his own at 157 pounds. After starting 3-0 down, the Cherry Hill, N.J. native scored seven straight points with two takedowns. Walsh managed to keep Penn's Vince Mannella scoreless the rest of the match for a 8-3 decision win.
Jasiah Queen put up a hard fought battle against No. 6 Nick Incontrera. After winning his last three match ups, the redshirt freshman secured a takedown over Incontrera, but fell just short by a 5-3 decision.
Ameer collected his first dual win of the season. At 197 pounds, two escape points was enough to get the 2-1 decision win.
