Wrestling Earns its Fourth Consecutive Dual Victory, over Brown, 19-15

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Ethan Wilson won by bonus points at 184 pounds to help Drexel to its fourth straight dual victory, over Brown, 19-15, on Saturday night. Desmond Pleasant, Jordan Soriano, Dom Findora, Cody Walsh, Wilson, and Ibrahim Ameer guided Drexel to its seventh consecutive victory over the Bears. The program improved to .500 in the EIWA and 6-8 overall in the regular season's final month.
Dual action started at 125 pounds as Desmond Pleasant took the mat for DU. Pleasant earned a takedown at the buzzer and headed into the third period up, 5-3. After a BU escape and stall point, the match headed into sudden victory. The redshirt sophomore took down Mike Joyce for an 8-5 overtime win. John Hildebrandt fought hard at 133lbs but was unable to score late in the third period as he fell, 1-0. Jordan Soriano earned his 12th dual win by a 5-1 decision. The Westbury, N.Y. native scored on a takedown, escape and riding time point. The Dragons led 6-3 following the first three matches.
After Brown won by fall at 157 pounds, which tied the dual at nine, #31 Cody Walsh, looked to swing the momentum back to Drexel. His match was scoreless after five minutes of action. In the third period, the Dragon was able to score four back points to reclaim DU's lead. The Bears won a close matchup at 174 pounds to knot the team score at 12.
Ethan Wilson dominated at 184 pounds for Drexel as the redshirt freshman scored four takedowns on his way to a major decision. The victory was a turning point for the Dragons with two weight classes to go. Ibrahim Ameer stepped up and won by decision, 2-0. The St. Louis, Mo. native escaped from the down position early in the second and was awarded a riding time bonus point after holding down Brown the entire third period. His win clinched the dual for the team. In the final match of the night, Santino Morina battled against BU. The score was tied at one headed into sudden victory. It appeared that Morina earned a takedown in extra time but after an official review, they concluded he was out of bounds and no points were awarded. Morina fell in the overtime period, 4-1.
