Men’s Rowing Opens Fall Season with Gold at the Navy Day Regatta

PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel men's rowing team opened the fall season with a win at the Navy Day Regatta, as the Collegiate Frosh/Novice 8+ took home gold on the Schuylkill River Sunday.

The team of Luke Joseph (Coxswain), Illia Chykanov (Stroke), Bartek Socha, Jakob Mauntel, Jack Brennan, Braeden Montgomery, Dejan Manojlovic, Danilo Djokic, and Filip Milanovic took the top spot, finishing with a time of 13:31.72. The Dragons finished 16 seconds of the second place boat of Navy.

In the Collegiate 8+ race, Drexel placed two boats in the top-ten. Drexel A in Lois Krall III crossed the line in sixth place with a time of 13:12.73. Drexel B in Sandra Lee Sheller II came home in tenth at 13:26.22, finishing second best out of all 2V8+ boats. Drexel C was third best out of all 3V8+ teams.

The Dragons will head to Boston, Mass for the two-day Head of the Charles Regatta, starting Saturday, October 19.
