RICHMOND, Va.– The Colonial Athletic Association has announced the 21 recipients of the prestigious CAA Leadership and Sport Excellence Award for the 2022-23 academic year. Of those 21 recipients, Lauren DiCamillo was selected for Women's Swimming and Diving.
DiCamillo majored in biological sciences and achieved a 3.71 GPA. A five-time member of the Dean's List, she received the Scholar-Athlete Award. DiCamillo spent two-years as the Drexel SAAC President and was very active in community service. She participated in Play Day at Vidas for local elementary school students, a canned food drive, the MLK Day clean up and the Drexel Dance Marathon that raised money for the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
In the pool, DiCamillo posted the Dragons' fourth-best times in the 50, 100 and 200 back. She was a two-year team captain.
The award mimics the Chuck Boone Leadership Award in football and the Dean Ehlers Leadership Award in men's and women's basketball. One student-athlete, who represents the highest standards of teamwork, integrity, leadership and sportsmanship in his or her academic and athletic achievements, was selected in each of the other 21 sports sponsored by the Conference.
After evaluating the nominees, the CAA's Faculty Athletic Representatives voted on the winners.
