Dragons Shutout Charleston in Series Finale

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel softball team defeated the Charleston Cougars on Sunday, 3-0. The Dragons took the series finale to earn the third conference win for Drexel.
Jessica Schable (6-9) pitched a complete game shutout for Drexel, holding Charleston to just seven hits and striking out four batters.
Lana Mooney went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a double in the final game of the series. The sophomore is now hitting .273 with a pair of doubles.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Like the rest of the series, Drexel scored the first run in the first inning. Mooney singled to center field and Izzy Alamillo beat a throw by the centerfielder to plate the first run for the home team.
In the third inning, Mooney doubled down the right field line and Abbonizio scored from second to push Drexel's lead to two runs.
Drexel furthered its lead in the fourth as Savaanah Garcia hit a double over the head of centerfield. The two-base hit scored Kylee Guerrera to push the teams' tthird run of the game.
UP NEXT
Drexel play's three nonconference games next week. The Dragons will begin at home against Seton Hill. On Tuesday, April 11, the Pirates will travel to Philadelphia to take on Drexel.
