Dragons Edged by Colgate, 4-2

CONWAY, S.C. – The Drexel softball team fell to the Colgate Raiders by a score of 4-2 on Sunday morning. With the loss on Sunday, the Dragons complete the three-day Battle at the Beach hosted by Coastal Carolina.
Jessica Schable (0-3) started the game in the circle for Drexel and went five innings. The senior allowed four runs on six hits. Lindsay Nelson entered the game in relief and went two innings, only allowing one hit. Both pitchers struck out a combined five batters.
Ameryn Humble went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. The junior leads the team in RBI through the first weekend of play, tallying four.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Colgate came right out of the gate attacking. The Raiders scored two runs, one off a sacrifice fly and another with a single through the left side.
In the bottom of the third, Ameryn Humble put Drexel on the board, hitting a ball into the gap in left center. The Huntington Beach, Calif. native brought in Izzy Alamillo and Grace Abbonizio.
Colgate scored two more runs in the fourth and fifth to take a 4-2 advantage on Drexel.
UP NEXT
Drexel travels to Spartanburg, S.C. on Friday, Feb. 24 to participate in the USC Upstate Wings Etc. Classic. The three-day invitational will pair Drexel up with Iona twice, USC Upstate twice and Queens University once.
