Men's Rowing Comes From Behind To Claim Kerr Cup

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel University men's rowing team won the Dr. Thomas Kerr Cup for the first time since 2017 with a dramatic victory in the Varsity 8+ against Yale at the Kerr Cup Regatta on Saturday afternoon.
FULL RESULTS
The Bulldogs led the race by more than a boat length as the teams approached the launch dock and seemed assured of victory. The Dragons, who entered as No. 16 in the IRCA Varsity 8+ poll, rallied in the second half of the event. Rowing in Lois Krall III, the group of Sam DeSilva (coxswain), Josh Diggons (stroke), Matt Reilly, Dimitrije Ibrocic, Damian Lis, Michael Pazderski, Andrew Manns, John Karen, and Roman Smigiel (bow) chased down Yale and crossed the finish line in 6:05.3, just nine hundredths of a second in front.
Drexel also earned a win in the Third Varsity 8+. Competing in Sandra Lee Sheller II, the Dragons topped local rivals Saint Joseph's by four seconds and Temple by eight seconds, finishing with a 6:31.0 clocking.
DU turned in second place finishes in the Second Varsity 8+ and Second Varsity 4+.
Drexel is in action next on Saturday, April 30 when it competes in the Bergen Cup Regatta on the Schuylkill River.
