Men's Varsity Eight Takes Second at Bergen Cup

PHILADELPHIA, Pa - The Drexel men's rowing team had several top finishes on Saturday afternoon at the Bergen Cup. Prior to the race, the Dragons officially welcomed Lois Krall III to the water, as George Krall honored his late wife with the dedication of a third men's boat in her name.

The men's third and fourth varsity eight boats raced to third place finishes, for the strongest performances of the day. The second varsity 8+ battled a strong Penn varsity lightweight 8+ and the Temple second varsity 8+, finishing third overall with a time of 6:03.2.

In the varsity 8+ race for the Bergen Cup, the Dragons shot out of the start and raced the Owls through down the Schuylkill. With the bow of the Lois Krall III trading places back and forth, the crews exchanged the lead several times down the course with the Owls managing to outpace the Dragons to the finish line.

The Dragons return to the Schuylkill next weekend for the annual Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta on Saturday, May 8.
