Dragons Win Twice At Season Opening Navy Day Regatta

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel men's rowing team claimed a pair of wins as the Dragons opened their season at the Navy Day Regatta on the Schuylkill River on Saturday morning.

In the Varsity 4+, Drexel "A", competing in Dan Lyons, placed first with a time of 13:53.5, winning by six seconds against second place Penn. The Dragons "B" boat, rowing in Diane Corle, finished third in the race with a time of 14:08.3.

The Freshman 8+ saw Drexel easily outpace La Salle, as the DU time of 13:17.4 was more than 40 seconds better than its nearest competitor, rowing in Joseph Greipp.

In the Varsity 8+, taking to the water in Lois Krall II, the Dragons "A" boat placed 13th out of 31 with a time of 12:28.8. The "B" boat for Drexel, competing in Sandra Lee Scheller II, placed 16th with a 12:44.8 clocking.

Up Next
Drexel returns to action next weekend when it travels to Boston to compete in the Head of the Charles Regatta, October 23-24.
