CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Drexel Wrestling's Ebed Jarrell reached the podium with an eighth-place finish at the Southern Scuffle, presented by Compound Sportswear. Seventh-seeded Jarrell won his first match on Thursday to ensure a podium finish before bowing out of the tournament due to injury.

EBED JARRELL
Having marched to the quarterfinals on Wednesday, Jarrell began the day in the second consolation round of eight, where he drew Oklahoma State's Andrew Shomers. No. 17 Jarrell and Shomers wrestled to a 2-2 stalemate after three periods, sending the bout to sudden victory. Jarrell scored the decisive takedown to advance to the consolation quarterfinals but suffered an injury during the match.

The East Greenwich, R.I. native took successive medical forfeits to close out the tournament, finishing eighth at 165 pounds.

Jarrell placed at the Scuffle for the second time in his career after finishing sixth at 165 pounds in 2018.

CHANDLER OLSON
Chandler Olson, the No. 7 seed at 133 pounds, entered the day one win away from the podium, but an injury suffered in Wednesday's quarterfinals prevented the Shippensburg, Pa. native from competing on Thursday. He took a medical forfeit in the second consolation round of eight.

Oklahoma State won the team competition with 116 points. The Dragons placed 21st out of 27 teams with 25 points.

The Dragons return to the mat on Jan. 11 for their first Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association road dual of the season. Drexel heads to the nation's capital for a 7 p.m. tilt with American.
