PHILADELPHIA – Drexel women's rowing is ready for international competition in Henley-on-Thames, England, where the Dragons will compete at the renowned Henley Women's Regatta held on the River Thames on June 22-24. The Dragons will begin their trip with competition at the Reading Amateur Regatta on June 16-17 on the River Thames.
The Henley Women's Regatta is one of the most prestigious regattas in the world, an international event with teams competing from countries around the world. More than 1,000 women compete annually at the Henley Women's Regatta.
This trip marks the sixth time Director of Rowing Paul Savell has brought Drexel Rowing to Henley. The Dragons' women went in 2010 and 2014, while the men's team competed at the Henley Royal Regatta in 2012 and 2016. In 2010 at the women's regatta, Drexel's varsity eight stunned the rowing world, winning the Elite 8 Championship and the Sports Council Cup.
Drexel will have three boats in competition at Henley and at Reading, including the varsity eight, second varsity eight and a double.
