Towson Defeats Drexel in CAA Play, 90-68

Towson, Md – The Towson Tigers shot 56 percent in the first half on their way to a 90-68 win against Drexel on Thursday night at SECU Arena. With the win, the Tigers moved to 4-3 in the CAA and 14-6 overall, while Drexel fell to 7-13 and 1-6 in league play.
Towson closed the first half by scoring the final 13 points of the first half to take control of the game at 49-33. The Tigers attacked the basket in the early going and got the Dragons in foul trouble early. Towson went to the line 18 times in the first half and made 15 of their attempts. Austin Williams scored 12 points for Drexel in the half and was a perfect 5-for-5 shooting, but played just 12 minutes as he was saddled with two fouls early. Tyshawn Myles picked up three fouls in the half and Sammy Mojica had two.
Williams played just 17 minutes before fouling out. He was 6-for-7 shooting and finished with 14 points to lead the team. Tramaine Isabell added 13 points, while Kurk Lee scored 12 points and had five assists. Alihan Demir chipped in with 10 points.
The Tigers capitalized on their opportunities from the line all night. They finished 30-for-37 from the stripe (.811) and also shot 47 percent from the floor. Five different players had at least 12 points for Pat Skerry's squad. Zane Martin led the way with 18 points and had four assists. Brian Starr had an efficient night for the Tigers, making four of his five field goals (2-2 from long range) and was 6-for-6 from the line. He finished with 16 points. Towson owned the glass, pulling down 18 offensive rebounds. The Tigers outrebounding Drexel, 46-25.
The Dragons conclude their two-game road trip on Saturday in Harrisonburg when they face James Madison. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
