COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Drexel senior Jeremy Omrod of men's lacrosse, senior Baeley Reed of softball, junior Kylie Strong of women's soccer and senior Sean Swartz of men's swimming have each been named 2017 National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) All-American Athletes. The news was announced via a NSCA press release.
The award recognizes athletic accomplishments and dedication to strength and conditioning while maintaining academic prominence.
The four Dragons were nominated by Drexel Director Strength and Conditioning Coach Michael Rankin and Drexel Strength and Conditioning Assistants Anthony McCloskey and Carla Waldron.
Omrod, a senior midfielder from Langhorne, Pa., appeared in eight games for men's lacrosse in 2017 with three goals, three assists and six points on 13 shots. The senior also had four groundballs to his credit. Men's lacrosse made its fifth-straight CAA Championship appearance this May.
Reed, a senior second baseman from St. Louis, Mo., was the lone Dragons to play in all 49 games for softball this season. She batted .239 with 34 hits, 17 runs and 14 RBI. In the field, Reed had a .960 field percentage with 97 putouts, 71 assists and 7 errors as she has helped turn six double plays.
Strong, a junior midfielder from York, Pa., started all 20 games in the fall for women's soccer. The junior scored one goal in a 3-0 win over College of Charleston in early October and notched four assists for six points on the season to go along with 19 shots. Women's soccer made its first-ever appearance in the finals at the CAA Championship in November but fell to No. 1 seeded Northeastern in the title matchup.
Swartz, a senior from Springfield, Pa. whose strokes are the butterfly and freestyle, notched three of his best times on the season at the 2017 CAA Championships with a time of 21.10 in the 50-yard freestyle prelims, 46.10 in the 100-yard freestyle and 50.94 in the 100-yard butterfly prelims as the men's swimming and diving team finished second for the second-straight year.
