Drexel’s Rachel Bernhardt Headed Back to the 2017 NCAA Swimming Championships

INDIANAPOLIS – Senior Rachel Bernhardt (Vineland, N.J. / Vineland) of the Drexel women's swimming team qualified for both the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke events at the 2017 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships held in Indianapolis, Ind. from Wednesday, March 15 through Saturday, March 18. Action takes place from the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana. Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis and Indiana Sports Corp will serve as co-hosts.
It marks Bernhardt's second-straight year qualifying for the NCAA Championships after she became the first Drexel women's swimmer to ever reach the championships a year ago.
She is seeded 35th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:00.25
Her time of 2:10.62 for the 200-yard breaststroke slots her as the 41st seed in the event.
Bernhardt recently helped the women finish fourth at the 2017 CAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Christiansburg, Va. last weekend. The senior earned gold in the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke individually while adding gold finishes in the 200-yard and 400-yard medley relays. The Vineland, New Jersey native also grabbed silver in the 200-yard freestyle relay and two bronzes in the 50-yard freestyle and the 400-yard freestyle relay. She finished second in total points earned at the meet with 56.

Wednesday's evening session, Thursday's sessions along with the morning sessions on Friday and Saturday will be streamed live on NCAA.com and indianasportscorp.org/ncaasd. Additionally, ESPNU will air a two-hour broadcast via tape delay at 7 p.m. Eastern time, Tuesday, March 28. Live results for the championships will be available on NCAA.com.
