COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Drexel junior Jaclyn Goulet of women's diving, senior Alyssa Kalitz of women's lacrosse and junior George Twardy of men's crew have each been named 2016 National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) All-American Athletes. The news was announced via a NSCA press release.
The award recognizes athletic accomplishments and dedication to strength and conditioning while maintaining academic prominence.
The trio was nominated by Drexel Director Strength and Conditioning Coach Michael Rankin and Drexel Strength and Conditioning Assistants John Sheffield and Anthony McCloskey.
Kalitz, the anchor of the defensive unit for women's lacrosse and a 2016 CAA All-Academic honoree, scooped up 19 groundballs and caused 18 turnovers this season. As a whole, the defense limited opponents to a 38.7% shot percentage and let opponents convert just 31.7% free position attempts. The Dragons ranked 19th overall in the nation in scoring defense, allowing 7.94 goals per game.
Goulet had the top dive for Drexel in the 3m prelims at the CAA Championships when she totaled a score of 195.95. The junior ranked second on the squad at the conference championships in the 1m prelims at 182.15. On the campaign as a whole, the Middlebury, Connecticut native totaled the second best dives on the squad in both 1m and 3m with respective scores of 232.85 against Loyola and Lafayette as well as 258.90 against Lehigh.
Twardy was a member of the men's crew second varsity 8 boat in 2015-16. He helped the Dragons win a gold medal in the second varsity 8 at the recent Dad Vail Regatta, pushing the team to a fourth consecutive overall championship on the Schuylkill River.
