Men's Crew Wins Two of Three Saturday vs. Columbia and Delaware

LEONIA, N.J. – In its final tune-up before the Dad Vail Regatta, Drexel men's crew earned two wins and a second-place finish against Columbia's lightweight crew and Delaware on Saturday at Overpeck Park in Leonia, N.J.

Drexel's second varsity eight and freshmen eight boats both picked up victories on the morning. The 16th-ranked varsity eight boat finished ahead of Delaware but behind Columbia's second-ranked lightweight eight.

The freshmen eight raced to a winning time in the Joseph Greipp boat of 6:26.7 to best second-place Columbia by nearly six seconds. Then the second varsity eight raced in the Lois Krall boat to a victory with a time of 6:16.2 to beat Columbia's 6:21.3. Drexel's varsity eight, racing in the Sandra Lee Sheller Ii boat, came in second to Columbia with a 6:02.5 while the Lions finished with a sub-six 5:58.4.

After Saturday's racing, the Dragons will return to action when they look for the four-peat as the Dad Vail Regatta overall champions on May 13-14.
