12/26/2016 1:11:00 PM | Men's Basketball
Philadelphia - Drexel rookie Kari Jonsson was named the CAA Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week for his play right before the holiday break. It was the first time the freshman won the award and the second time a Drexel player has earned the honor thus far this season.
Jonsson, a guard from Hafnarfjordur, Iceland, scored 17 points and handed out out a career-high eight assists in Drexel's 91-74 victory at Quinnipiac last Wednesday. The freshman went 5-for-8 from beyond the arc and tallied double figures for the fifth time this season. He also had two steals and just one turnover in 33 minutes against the Bobcats. Jonsson, who leads the CAA with 2.6 three-pointers per game, is averaging 10.3 points per game. He is shooting .453 from behind the arc.
The Dragons return to action on Wednesday when they make the four-block walk to the Palestra to take on Penn. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
