Men's Soccer Falls in Season Finale, 1-0

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Drexel men's soccer team saw its season come to a close on Tuesday night as the Dragons fell to the host College of Charleston, 1-0. The loss kept the Dragons without a victory in Colonial Athletic Association play this season.
Paul Burdick scored his first goal of the season to give the Cougars the victory. It came on a broken play in the 52nd minute when the Drexel defense prevented a shot attempt from Vebjorn Krovel, but the loose ball deflected straight to Burdick who scored to end a season of bad breaks for the Dragons.
Drexel senior goalkeeper Tyler Afflerbach and the Dragons' defense once again performed admirably in the defeat. Afflerbach had seven saves, the third consecutive game in which he has had at least seven stops. He finishes his career with 256 saves, sixth-most all time in Drexel men's soccer history. Afflerbach began his career as the All-CAA goalkeeper for the 2013 league champions and started every game for this year's team, putting together some of his best performances down the stretch to lead the young Dragons.
Afflerbach had some help from his defense, spearheaded by fellow senior Jameson Detweiler. The Dragons were credited with a pair of defensive saves that kept the College of Charleston from pulling away.
Offensively, the Dragons had five shots compared to Charleston's 13. Five different Dragons put up a shot apiece, with Erik Alexandersson putting Drexel's only shot on goal. Colin McGlynn, Daniel Klemm, Tristan Thompson and Connor Ryan each also put up shot attempts for Drexel.
