No. 9 Women’s Squash Splits Sunday Matches

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The No. 9 Drexel women's squash team (8-4) split its Sunday matches, falling to No. 4 Stanford, 8-1, before defeating Mount Holyoke, 9-0. The women went 2-2 in its four-match weekend in Connecticut. Both losses came to top-ten teams.
Afternoon Match: Drexel Sweeps Mount Holyoke
After falling to Stanford earlier in the day, the Dragons responded with a 9-0 victory over Mount Holyoke to cap off the weekend.
Sophomore Hayley Hughes was the only Dragon to win both of her matches on Sunday. She defeated Mount Holyoke's Brandy Williamson, 11-4, 11-4, 11-2, in the afternoon. Hughes was one of two Dragons to win three of her four matches on the weekend.
Freshman Fiona Power also earned three individual victories on the weekend as her third came against Emily Change in the No. 5 spot, 11-4, 11-5, 11-2.
Hughes and Power are both 9-3 on the campaign. Sophomore Ryan Morgan follows them up at 8-4 after she defeated Allison Shilling of MHC from the No. 2 position, 11-3, 11-0, 11-1.
Freshman Kathryn Bottger appeared in three of four matches on the weekend for her first appearances as a Dragon. She defeated Syry Mitchell, 11-1, 11-2, 11-1, from the No. 9 spot in her final Sunday matchup. She went 2-1 across Saturday and Sunday.
This win came as the fourth 9-0 decision in favor of the Dragons on the year.

Hayley Hughes won the lone match for Drexel. The sophomore trailed two games, but came back to win in five over Stanford's Madeline Gill, 8-11, 6-11, 11-7, 11-7, 11-6.
The remainder of the Dragons fell in straight games.
