PHILADELPHIA - With the 2015 season quickly approaching, the Drexel women's soccer team is set to open the regular season on Aug. 21 as they host area-rival Villanova at 4:30 p.m. The Dragons, who finished last season in fifth place in the Colonial Athletic Association, will be attempting to return to the CAA post-season for just the third time in program history.
Drexel will also host Buffalo on the Sunday of opening weekend before heading on a four-game road trip where they will face Fairfield, Stony Brook, George Washington and Rutgers. The squad will then return home for two games as they host VCU on Sept. 11 and Niagara on Sept. 13. They will finish the non-conference schedule on the road against Syracuse under the lights on Sept. 17.
The Dragons are scheduled to open CAA play with a southern trip as they take on UNCW on Sept. 25 before traveling to College of Charleston two days later. Drexel will then return home to host Towson, James Madison, William & Mary and Elon at Vidas Field with a quick trip to conference-rival Delaware on Oct. 9 splitting up the long conference homestand.
The contest against Elon on Oct. 18 will mark both Senior Day and the Dragons' last home game of the year. Drexel will then close out the regular season on the road as they travel to Northeastern and Hofstra for the weekend of Oct. 23-25.
The 2015 CAA Championship is set to begin on Nov. 1. Semifinals will be played on Nov. 6 and the Finals are set for Nov. 8.
