Women's Basketball to Face Dartmouth in Preseason WNIT Opener
6/18/2015 8:31:00 AM | Women's Basketball
Philadelphia - The bracket has been announced for the Preseason WNIT and the Drexel women's basketball team will host Dartmouth at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. The Dragons and Big Green will play Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. The winner will face either South Florida or Jacksonville. All eight first round games will take place on that date.
The second round of the tournament will take place between Nov. 15-17, while the semifinals are Nov. 19. The Preseason WNIT Championship will be played at 3 p.m. on Novv. 22. That game can be seen live on the CBS Sports Network. The tournament features a three-game guarantee, so if a team loses in the championship bracket before it has played three games, it will play in the consolation bracket.
The rest of the first round games on the Drexel side of the bracket include UT Arlington at Baylor, Alabama State at Southern Miss and Jacksonville at South Florida. On the other side of the bracket, Southern Illinois visits DePaul, Siena is at St. Bonaventure, Tennessee State travels to Indiana and McNeese State will be at Chattanooga.
Drexel is playing in the event for the third time, following trips in 2005 and 2011. The Dragons are 2-2 all-time in the event, falling to Boston College in 2005 and Long Island in 2011 before reeling off wins against Detroit and at Akron later that season.
