PHILADELPHIA – Kevin Devoy Jr. of wrestling and Alexis Smith of women's basketball have been named the Colonial Marble and Granite Athletes of the Week by Drexel Athletics for the week of Feb. 11-17.
Devoy registered two wins over the weekend to improve his record to 30-4 on the year. In the Dragons' 26-15 win over Hofstra on Friday's Spirit Night, the sophomore pinned the Pride's Travis Passaro just 1:26 into the match for his seventh win by fall this season. On Sunday at the National Duals, the Burlington, N.J. native grabbed a 3-2 decision over Cornell's Mark Grey, who is ranked No.15 at 133 pounds by Intermat. Devoy is ranked No. 16 nationally by Intermat.
Smith poured in a career-high 19 points in the Dragons' 66-52 win over Towson on Sunday afternoon. The sophomore from Lusby, Md. knocked down a career-best four threes on her way to shooting 5-for-9 overall from the field. She also added two rebounds, an assist and a steal in the win. The Dragons are now 15-9 overall on the year and 9-4 in the CAA, good for second place.
