Wrestling Falls to Binghamton, 22-14

Binghamton, N.Y. - The Drexel wrestling team fell to Binghamton, 22-14 in EIWA action on Friday evening. The Dragons held a 14-6 lead at the end of the fifth match, but were unable to hold on as the Bearcats swept the last five weight classes.
Binghamton struck first as No. 27 David White earned a win-by-fall over Eric Ochoa at 125. Kevin Devoy Jr., who is currently ranked 15th in the nation by the NCAA Coaches' Panel, retaliated with a 17-0 technical fall over Binghamton's Joe Nelson at 133 pounds. David Pearce came up next and gave the Dragons an 8-6 advantage with a 12-5 decision at 141 and then No. 22 Matthew Cimato extended Drexel's lead to 11-6 with a win at 149. Noel Blanco then defeated Vincent DePrez, 6-3, to put Drexel ahead 14-6 at the halfway point of the dual.
Binghamton's Zack Zupan got the Bearcats on the board again with a win over Nick Elmer at 165 and his teammate Steve Schneider followed at 174 by edging out Stephen Loiseau, 4-2. The No. 31-ranked Jack McKeever gave the Bearcats a 15-14 advantage with a 5-1 victory over Alex DeCiantis at 184. Binghamton's Caleb Wallace and No. 22 Tyler Deuel finished out the dual with a win each to solidify the conference win for the Bearcats.
With the loss, Drexel moves to 4-7 overall and 1-1 in EIWA action, while Binghamton improves to 5-6, 3-1 EIWA.
The Dragons return to action on Sunday when they will finish out the weekend road trip against Army at 2:00 p.m.
