PRINCETON, N.J. - The Drexel men's and women's squash teams concluded the 2014 portion of their schedule with a losses to the No. 10/5 Princeton Tigers on Wednesday night. The men dropped their match 6-3 while the women fell 9-0.
The men's squash team got wins from Michael Thompson, Mark Kauf and Sebastian Dangond but it was not enough versus the 10th ranked Tigers of Princeton on Wednesday night. Thompson got his second win of the year in a five game marathon versus Taylor Tutrone. The two alternated the first four games but it was Thompson prevailing in the fifth 12-10 to get the Dragons on the board. Kauf had to rally back to win his match in five games after winning the first two games -- 14-12, 12-10 -- to beat Sam Ezratty in the fifth set -- 11-8.
Dangond got a win out of the ninth slot, which is a first for the Dragons this season, in three games with the last one going 12-10 in favor of the Dragon. The Tigers got four of their six wins in three games and they only dropped three games in the other two matches to secure the 6-3 win.
Drexel remains winless versus the Tigers on the men's side -- 0-3.
On the women's side the Dragons fell 9-0 to the number five Tigers. The Dragons were unable to take a single game from the Tigers on the night and lost each match 3-0. Laura Rahauser pushed Alex Lunt to a 11-7 game in the second game of their match to mark the high point of the scoring for the Dragons in a game on the night.
The women remain winless versus the Ivy League in the program's brief history.
Drexel returns to the court in 2015 when Dartmouth comes to the Kline and Specter Squash Center on January 5.
