PHILADELPHIA – Drexel women's basketball player Meghan Creighton will be out indefinitely due to a right knee injury that will require surgery later this week.
Creighton, who has started every game for the Dragons since the beginning of her freshman season in 2012-13, was averaging 6.6 points per game thus far this season. She also ranked among the national leaders in assists per game (5.9) and assist-to-turnover ratio (3.15). Earlier this season, Creighton dished out a program-record 13 assists in the Dragons' win over Sacred Heart.
The junior from West Chester, Pa. and Archbishop Carroll put together her first-career double-double earlier this year with 10 points and 10 rebounds against Saint Joseph's. She already ranks among the program leaders in three-pointers (121), and has 253 career assists. As a freshman, she was the starting point guard for the team that won the Women's National Invitation Tournament, the first Division I women's basketball postseason title by any Philadelphia-area team.
Drexel continues its season on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. at Quinnipiac.
